First Steps

Registration at One Spark Academy is a personalized process. Whether joining us full time or for just one class, every participant becomes an integral part of our community!

The FIRST STEP is to read this page! Then, go here to fill out a Registration Request for 2025-2026.

One Spark Academy is a unique learning center. Although we are not an accredited school, we pride ourselves on providing students a quality education and a relevant, research-based curriculum in a whole-child setting. Our participants, whether full-time or part-time, are either privately homeschooled or are enrolled in a public charter homeschool program that offers an independent study curriculum. OSA does not provide official transcripts or report cards. If you are new to homeschooling and need help understanding your homeschool options, log onto the California Homeschool Network website and click on Homeschool FAQ. http://californiahomeschool.net/

Even if you have never homeschooled, you can file a Private School Affidavit and send your child to One Spark Academy for their classes. In this capacity, you are still responsible for their academic journey, but OSA is teaching your child, to the extent you need or desire.

Enrolling in a Public Homeschool Charter School?

There are benefits to enrolling in a public Charter School. These benefits include having access to some funding and having a guide through the homeschool process. You will also have official transcripts provided by your school of record. However, your child will need to adhere to the CA State Content Standards if with a Charter School, and take the standardized tests for their grade in April or May. OSA is an approved vendor with Golden Valley Charter School, Blue Ridge Charter School, and Sage Oak Charter School. These Charter Schools provide a set amount of funding for their students to attend classes at One Spark Academy or other approved vendors.  This amount averages about $3800 (depends on grade and school) and is typically split into two disbursements during the year. Please note: Charter School families whose students take courses at One Spark Academy must pay up front for the costs of the first Session in which they enroll. Then, when funds are received from the Charter School (about 30-60 days after the start of the Session, depending on the Charter School), they are credited to the child’s account and apply to the subsequent Session in which they enroll. More information about that here.

Before You Register

If you are new to One Spark Academy, please familiarize yourself with our philosophy, mission, immunization policy, important information for parents, and general courses before contacting us about registration. If enrolled in a Charter School, you should FIRST meet with your facilitator or educator to establish a general course of study before registering at One Spark Academy.

Registration for OSA is available all year, provided there is space in our courses. Many courses fill early. If a class is closed, please inquire! Sometimes spaces do open up before the website is updated.
